Learned Framer with Ryan
A 27-year-old freelancer who travels full time and wanted more control over his sites than vibe coding tools could give him.
Alessandro Schiavina is 27 and has been travelling for the last two or three years: Asia in 2024, Italy in 2025, the Caribbean now. Freelancing is what pays for it. He finds most of his clients on Upwork, replying to briefs with a cover letter and usually a long video.
The limits of prompting
Before Framer, he built with AI web coding tools like Bolt and Lovable. Type a prompt, get a website in two seconds. It was nice, and it was not enough. He loves design and wanted his sites to carry his own touch, which prompting alone could not give him.
WordPress said no
He went looking for a serious platform and started where most people do. WordPress tutorials felt very stiff to him, an hour of video to make a website he did not like. He also looked at UI and UX design on its own and was puzzled that people get paid for designs that never go live. For him, the point was always a site he could publish.
Why Framer, and why Ryan
On YouTube he compared Wix, Webflow and WordPress, and two things decided it. The Framer videos were recent rather than two years old, and the clearest ones were Ryan’s. He was tired of people talking about making money with web design without ever showing how.
“Having someone that showcases, okay, this is how you do it, from zero to a website.”
Paying for support
He had opened Framer templates before, but the 30 Day Challenge was the first time he really worked in it. Ryan’s course was the content. The challenge added the more personal support, and that was what made him pay. He also liked the two-way Slack: asking what people thought of his work, and sharing what he knew when someone else was stuck.
The CMS, and a free plan
The CMS is where the flow of Framer started to click. He also could not get over the economics. With AI builders you burn credits and then pay. In Framer he can build as many sites as he likes for free. And building every box by hand, with every auto layout, was the moment it felt like serious work.
Ten minutes of video, one hour of building
His honest feedback is about pacing. The daily lessons varied, one video one day and a few the next, and then the intermediate builds arrived together near the end, around two hours of video in a day. He follows along by pausing every ten seconds, so ten minutes of Ryan is an hour of his time. He loves that the long videos go deep. He would just spread them out, five or so a day.
Friends first
His next projects are for friends with old websites: a dentist in Madrid and a holistic centre with lots of clients walking through the door. He will build them for free and count on the referrals, because when a site is good, people ask who made it.
“Be open to change your mind. From vibe coding to a proper website, every single thing I made by my own self.”
